Philippine Culture Days was introduced on 5th December evening within the framework of the Global Harmony 2 program by the Ministry of Media, with the collaboration of the General Entertainment Authority and the help of the Quality of Life Program.
The event is being held at one of the zones of Riyadh Season, which is Al-Suwaidi Park, on Dec. 5-8, and has already received thousands of guests, as mentioned by the Saudi Press Agency.
It is a cultural experience that brings out the richness of the Philippine culture and its traditional arts, besides presenting the success stories of the Filipino residents in the Kingdom, their social, economic, and cultural roles, as well as their various contributions.
The show also consists of musical acts by the top Filipino musicians and celebrities, cultural stalls that usher the visitors into the daily life of Filipinos by strolling through the bazaars of traditional Filipino clothes, food booths, themed photo shoots, and folkloric costumes, all of which bring a carnival of Philippine identity.
The Filipino artisans also showcase live performances of the traditional crafts, such as shellcrafting, making accessories, and handcrafted art, to visitors to have a close view of the complex craftsmanship that is involved.
The opening day was accompanied by the first musical concert with Filipino artists, and over 70 exhibitors and artistic performers who performed musical and folk performances that incorporated a mix of traditional arts and contemporary tunes, with the audience being highly interested.
The Philippine Culture Days, which is celebrated over four days, is an initiative of a bigger scale of events around the world that are targeted to impart cultural exchange and demonstrate how the Kingdom is a place of diversity.
The Global Harmony 2 program still provides over 200 child activities in 49 days with constant attendance of the family around the week. The program of this year is to promote 14 world cultures, and each of them refers to another community in the Kingdom.
So far, over 2 million visitors have participated in the cultural program, and there are still three exhibitions left in the Global Harmony program 2.
After the Philippine Culture Days, there are Uganda (Dec. 9-10), Ethiopia (Dec. 11-13), and Sudan (Dec. 14-20).
The authorities are willing to illuminate the existence of expatriates residing in Saudi Arabia, ecstatically sharing their social and recreational life, their role in the economy of the Kingdom, as well as a personal achievement story.
