The four-day Filipino Film Festival called Celebrating Filipino Culture through Cinema was held at the Social Hall of the Chancery Building, Philippine Embassy in Tehran, from 19 to 22 October 2025.
During his introductory speech, Ambassador Roberto G. Manalo explained how the festival offered them an opportunity to appreciate the Filipino identity, culture, and history between the Filipino and foreign population in Tehran, particularly the second-generation Fil-Iranians. The festival has also led to the strengthening of the relationship among the Filipino-Iranian community.
The festival was marked with contemporary films with four themes, which included: turn-of-the-century history, young romance, the traditional heritage of weaving in the southern Philippines regions, and life in the Philippine seaside rural communities. There was no charge of admission, but the film lovers in Tehran had an opportunity to have a preview of the wealth and variety of the Philippine movies.
The last screening, with its focus on the life of rural coastal communities, was also in line with the celebration of the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANAMo) by the Embassy.
