Nigerian Forces Crush Terror Plots: Dozens of Militants Killed in Major Northeast Operation

The Joint Task Force North East troops, known as Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), have been able to prevent various terrorist attacks and neutralize major threats in the States of Borno and Adamawa between October 25 and 31, 2025, the Nigerian military has declared.

The military claimed that the militant activities that involved actions in Kukawa, Gwoza-Limankara, and regions near the Sambisa Forest thwarted any possible attack on civilians and also disrupted terrorist logistics systems.

On October 25, the forces intercepted an intended Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive device (VBIED) in Kukawa Town. The car, which was originally invulnerable to RPGs because of its armored surface, was later nullified by a T-55 tank. One of its civilian female children, a 10-year-old girl, suffered minor injuries and was treated by a doctor, and the assailants made their escape.

With the support of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were also found and de-mined in the DikwaAjiri axis, which would have sabotaged the major supply routes.

Additional activity on October 29 on troops of the 192 Battalion and CJTF with the resultant successful ambush in the Gwoza–Limankara region, killing two terrorists and causing others to run off into the Mandara Mountains. The salvage showed that they were still using bicycles and the food found locally as terrorist support.

On October 30, an all-night raid by 202 Battalion and volunteer troopers stopped insurgents across the Gezuwa axis to Sambisa Forest on the Bama Konduga Main Supply Route, and the raiders were in disarray.

In another anti-smuggling operation by the 232 Battalion, which was under operation Strangulation, the 232 Battalion intercepted 1 drum of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and two motorcycles engaged in illegal conveyance in Fillin Ball and Sebore, Mubi South, Adamawa State. Suspects threw away the items when they met the troops.

On October 30, also, based on credible intelligence, 144 Battalion and Sector 4 Special Forces with an operation that involved the use of hybrid forces and local hunters, carried out a cordon and search in one village, Madagali LGA, Adamawa State, where five suspects, Musa Mohammed (38), Gambo Musa (17), Mallam Mohammed (17), Abu Danjuma (27), and Umar Banna (26), were arrested. The operation resulted in the retrieval of ammunition, desert camouflage uniforms, and 50 wraps of Indian hemp.

On a follow-up attack on October 31 with a 3-kilometre radius of the Sambisa Forest, one dead terrorist was recovered, an AK-47 rifle loaded with bullets, and four bicycles, but there were no losses among the troops.

OPHK utilized the Air Component Command as the source of critical air support during the operations, making precision attacks and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance assets to improve battlefield awareness.

The Military High Command praised the troops on their professionalism, gallantry, and undivided purpose to restore peace in the North East, confirming that the Nigerian Armed Forces are determined to destroy terrorist cells and interrupt supply routes as well as protect the vulnerable communities.
