Deadly Strikes Hit Ukraine: 4 Killed as Zelenskyy Urges Stronger Western Air Defenses

At least four people died and 20 were wounded after Russian missiles and drones targeted Ukraine overnight on 25th October, officials said, and elicited new demands by the president of Ukraine to the West to supply it with air defence.

Two were killed and 13 wounded in an attack in the early hours of Saturday by a ballistic missile in the capital, Kyiv, the police of the city said. One place was a fire in a non-residential building, and another was the fall of debris of intercepted missiles in an open field, damaging the windows in neighboring buildings, the state emergency service of Ukraine claimed in a Telegram message.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, two were slain and seven wounded as a result of attacks.

Ukraine’s air force reported that Russia fired 9 missiles and 62 drones, with four and 50 drones being shot down, respectively.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote, “such attacks underscore Ukraine’s urgency to acquire the Patriot defence systems”. He said, “America, Europe, and the G7 countries can assist in ensuring that such attacks do not pose any threat anymore.”

The Defence Ministry in Russia reported that 121 Ukrainian drones were shot down in the air over Russia overnight.
