Prepare for ‘theaters of war’: IDF trains for large-scale attacks; launches military exercise ‘Dawn’

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched a surprise military exercise on Sunday, codenamed “Dawn,” aimed at evaluating the preparedness of its general headquarters and main command centers for large-scale, multi-front attacks. The drill, directed by Chief of Staff Major General Eyal Zamir, was designed to test the IDF’s rapid response capabilities and operational efficiency under complex scenarios.

The exercise simulated surprise and multi-scene events across various potential theaters of war. IDF Comptroller Brigadier General (res.) Ofer Sarig and his team monitored the drill to assess the military’s responsiveness and effectiveness. A statement from the IDF noted that it would continue conducting audits across commands, branches, and units to enhance operational readiness.

The exercise coincided with ongoing IDF operations, including a targeted strike on Saturday night against a Hezbollah operative in Aynata, southern Lebanon, who was allegedly conducting intelligence activities in violation of the ceasefire agreement.

Earlier in the week, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu chaired a three-hour security meeting, during which the IDF Chief of Staff outlined strategic options for the ongoing Gaza campaign. Netanyahu later affirmed via social media that the IDF stands ready to implement decisions made by the Security Cabinet.
