Poland’s Top General and NATO discussed Ukraine War and Global Security

Alexus Grynkewich, NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) was hosted by Gen. Wiesław Kukuła, chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, in Warsaw to discuss the topics of modernising Poland’s military and developing key deterrence and resilience capabilities. 

 

A statement from the General Staff said that the two generals met to talk about the security climate in the Baltic and the importance of drawing lessons from the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East. 

 

 

 

 

The discussion gave away valuable insights “useful in the ongoing development of NATO forces.” General Wiesław Kukuła said that the talks were highly productive and useful while also recalling that they would help strengthen cooperation among NATO allies. 

 

“We agreed to remain in close contact to respond effectively to developments in our region,” he said. 

 

Alexus Grynkewich, A US Air Force general and veteran fighter pilot who also served as a senior operations commander in the Middle East and held top roles at NATO and the Pentagon, met with Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, and Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, during his time in Warsaw.

 


Poland’s position as a leading NATO ally was praised by Grynkewich, who became NATO’s top military commander in Europe on July 4, who also boasted how Poland is a model for other member countries.
